head-side-headphonesHow to Speak to a HeyMilo Agent

A HeyMilo interview is designed to feel like a real conversation: structured, fair, and focused on understanding your experience. The tips below will help you feel comfortable, take your time, and get the most out of the interview.

You’ve landed an interview! We’re glad you’re here. Here’s what a HeyMilo interview will feel like and how to prepare.

1. 🎙️ What the Interview Will Feel Like

The AI interviewer will conversationally guide you through a set of questions related to the role you applied for.

You can expect:

  • Clear, role-relevant questions

  • Occasional follow-up questions if more detail is helpful

  • A consistent, professional tone

  • Your answers will be recorded and transcribed for the hiring team to review

There’s no pressure to “perform.” The goal is to understand how you think and communicate.

2. ❓ How to Answer Questions Naturally

You don’t need to speak any differently than you would with a human interviewer.

A few things that help:

  • Speak at a comfortable, natural pace

  • Answer the question directly before adding extra detail

  • Use real examples when you can

  • Stay focused on the question being asked

There’s no need to rush or over-explain. Clear and honest answers work best.

3. 🗣️ Short Answers vs. Longer Responses

Some questions only need a quick response. Others benefit from more explanation.

  • Short answers are fine for simple or factual questions

  • Longer answers are helpful when describing:

    • how you solved a problem

    • how you handled a challenge

    • how you worked with others

If you’re unsure how much to say, start with your main point and continue if needed. Follow-up questions will guide you.

4. ⏸️ Pausing, Thinking, and Not Feeling Rushed

It’s completely normal to pause briefly while you think.

If you need a little more time to gather your thoughts, you can use the “Don’t Interrupt Me” button on the interview screen. This lets the interviewer know you’re still speaking or thinking.

If the interviewer jumps in before you’re finished, don’t worry. You can continue your answer or let the interviewer know you’re not done. Your full response will still be captured accurately.

Background noise or brief interruptions won’t count against you, but choosing a quiet space helps keep the conversation smooth.

5. 😶 If You’re Quiet for Too Long

If there’s an extended period of silence, the interviewer may check in to see if you’re still there.

If there’s no response after that, the interview may end automatically. If this happens, don’t worry! You can rejoin the interview at any point using the same interview link and continue from there.

Final Note

Take your time, answer honestly, and speak as you normally would. The interview is designed to give you space to explain your experience.
